INTRIGUE on the GOLF COURSE

I've been walking the golf course lately with Bob and when we do that, I don't "muse". We take our ipods and I'm concentrating on the music, we're walking a lot faster, and we're trying not to get wet when the course sprinklers suddenly start up. When I walk the course alone, I'm usually hunting for lost golf balls in the out-of-bounds areas, so I'm only musing about where a golf ball could be hiding. I found nine new golf balls one morning.

I did have a bit of an adventure yesterday on the course, though. Bob and his golf buddies were teeing off on the same course that I was going to be walking by. I look bad when I'm walking, and I'm still fat, so didn't really want to meet up with these guys. But when I reached the street that passes the green on hole #1, I realized they were on the green. So I hid behind the trees until they passed. When I started out again, I almost bumped into a straggler who was late and was driving his cart like crazy to catch up with the others. As they were teeing of #2, I ran (literally) up the hill and was on the street parallel to the same hole.

As I slowed to a more comfortable gait, I realized that if I didn't hurry, I would be crossing the fairway on hole #3 just as they were teeing off. I would be the only thing they saw on the fairway as they set up their ball.

So that meant more running - well, part running, part speed walking. I crossed the fairway at hole #3 while they were finishing #2. I managed to get to our backyard and then the safety of our back porch without being seen. I was
soaking wet with perspiration and exhausted - could hardly get my breath, but, HURRAY, I had successfully avoided them.

I then ran into the house, dried off, fixed my hair, grabbed a book and returned to the back porch and sat down. As the guys were driving by, Bob waved. Later he told me I looked nice sitting up there reading! Ha!! What an adventure! Actually, I loved it! A little excitement - and intrigue - never hurt anyone, right?

Oh, and on the weight loss? I finally got on the scale after a week. I lost another 1/2 lb. Not much, but with all the cheating I'd done, I was just happy I hadn't gained any!
